Time Is Not on My Side

If you see a girl walking around the streets of DC, looking like she lost her best friend, groping an empty bottle of Tylenol PM, and crying - it's VP of Dior. No need to be alarmed I guess. VP will probably be in a despondent mood for quite some time, trying to pick up the pieces of her broken heart that are scattered like debris from a garbage truck. And no, she doesn't want to hear, "Time will tell," or " Only time can help you to get over this." Time is not on her side and it never has been.

I've been there, VP. After a 3-year relationship, where we were living together, and supposed to get married and all that. I felt I'd wasted so much time on someone who wasn't worth it, yet it still shattered me. I had to take twice the recommended dosage of Tylenol PM just to sleep fitfully for about five hours. I took three of five days off work, and just cried all day every day. My point is, I've been there!

But little by little, you will think of him less often. You'll accomplish things on your own that you're proud of, and kind of glad he's not involved in. You'll box up all the notes and sweet things and don't want to look at them anymore. You'll cry less and less every day. It does happen. So whether or not you want to hear it takes time, it's the truth. It just sucks.

Trying expanding your reach, and give brothers a shot! I have no issue with people dating whoever they want. However, it's silly to just run after white boys! There are some good brothers out there...open your mind

for the record, i love and hate men of ALL races and i do not run after anyone. anon - i wish you had been bold enough to state your identity, however i would like to make the point that i AM selective about behaviorial and social traits men have - but i am NOT selective about race. i've dated puerto ricans, cubans, blacks, and whites so far in my life. i haven't yet dated anyone of asian or middle eastern descent but if there is a guy of any descent man enough to handle me then bring it on.

Again, it sucks. I know.

Lines that aren't any consolation in addition to the whole "time" thing include: You're better off knowing now, and you're better off without him. Ick. Who invented this crap and why do they dispense it during a breakup?

All I can safely say is that your heart can feel, and that's a good thing. Sometimes I float through life wondering if I will ever truly fall in love again. Oh wait, that's not helpful, that's about me. Darn it.

I'm sorry VP. That's all I can say. And if you want to go out, I'm game.

There must be an imbalance in the force; everyone is breaking up.

Good lord!

We've all been there, most of us will be there again.
